Web Design and the Importance of Browsing
Webmaster March 10th, 2008One of the most annoying things when shopping at the mall is walking into a store and being bombarded with salespeople, following you around, constantly bugging you and asking if you need help. Well, the same annoyance occurs with a website. For this reason, when creating your web design, make sure you provide ample opportunity for existing and potential customers to browse. Typically, many people prefer internet shopping for this very reason – they can browse and buy without being bothered.
Okay, so how can you develop a web design that takes full advantage of the browsing option? Easy – make the site easy to navigate. Although this would apply most often with an ecommerce site, it can also make a difference with any site to include internet marketing, education, e-books, blogging, and so on. With any site, avoid providing so much information that the visitor cannot get where he or she wants to go quickly and easily. Even if someone visits your site but buys nothing, you want to leave that person with a positive experience so they will return. To accomplish this, set up the web design so you have a website whereby your visitors are not forced to click through multiple pages just to download or buy something. While you can provide useful information, we suggest you keep it to a minimal or provide data in a separate area where the potential buyer can go if he or she likes.
