Defense services in most countries require some special operations to be conducted owing to military requirements. Special Forces are the nomenclature for the highly trained units of defense services that carry out special operations like reconnaissance, fighting terrorism, and war that is unconventional. The name of the unit is Special Operations Force or SOF in United States contrary to the popular name of Special Forces used in most other countries.

Most of the operations are carried out by the Special Forces under specific circumstances when regular forces are unable to penetrate or accomplish the task. Therefore these forces require Special Forces gear for performing their job with precisions.

One of the basic characteristics of the Special Forces is that they are never formed in very large groups like regular military units. Though they use the military gear like the regular forces, the units are normally smaller in composition. These operators are highly trained and they are equipped with specially built armaments.

In formation of group, training as well as in the use of military equipment the underlying principle is that of self-sufficiency. In addition the force has stealth, speed and the group works in close harmony with each other. In other words speed, efficiency, and team work is the essence of the performance of the Special Forces.

Once transported through air, road, or waterways through helicopters, boats, or trucks these forces continue on their own without waiting for any external support playing the role of multiplier to the perfection and accomplishing hard tasks unachievable by others.
